Slow Economy Not Slowing Broadway Ticket Sales at Select ATicket

SelectATicket does not see a slowing in Broadway show ticket sales. Shows like Wicked and Tony Award nominee Little Mermaid are top sellers.

Riverdale, New Jersey (PRWEB) May 23, 2008 -- Tom Patania, CEO of SelectATicket, says sales of Broadway tickets haven‘t been affected a slowing economy. According to Patania, sales of tickets and other events are about the same as last year.

Because of our large network of suppliers even if the show is sold out we can still get you seats. Many times, we can also get seats the day of the show. If tickets do not sell you can find them for below face value.

What hurt ticket sales more than the economy was last year‘s Broadway theater strike, which shut down 27 Broadway shows. It ended last November, but cost New York City tens of millions of dollars in lost revenue. It lasted 18 days. Patania noted that the Broadway strike hurt sales, but that they have since recovered.

Of all the tickets sold at SelectATicket, Broadway tickets remain a favorite with people buying Broadway tickets online. Wicked, which is in its 5th year on Broadway, is still the most popular show.

While SelectATicket sells tickets to sports, and other events, according to Patania, Broadway is one of their specialties. The top selling Broadway tickets at SelectATicket this month include Wicked, Little Mermaid, South Pacific, and Jersey Boys.

There‘s renewed interest in the show Little Mermaid after the musical score got nominated for a Tony Award. The music was written by Alan Menken, with lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater. Menken has won eight academy awards, more than any other person now living. He also composed the score for Disney‘s film Enchanted.

The score for Broadway‘s The Little Mermaid features the classic songs from the film along with 10 new songs written by Menken and lyricist Glenn Slater.

SelectATicket notes that whatever Broadway show or musical is popular; it‘s possible to get good seats and prices. ‘‘Because of our large network of suppliers even if the show is sold out we can still get you seats. Many times, we can also get seats the day of the show. If tickets do not sell you can find them for below face value.‘‘

SelectATicket has been selling Broadway show tickets for 30 years. ‘‘We offer seats in all price ranges of the house from the balcony to the front orchestra,‘‘ he notes.
