San Diego is one of the most beautiful cities in the U.S. With consistently warm, pleasant, sunny weather that lasts throughout the entire year, it is one of the most desirable cities to live in. Given how nice the weather is, it should come as no surprise that San Diego Padres tickets are a popular item with baseball fans in the area. Attending outdoor baseball games is an enjoyable experience, just about anywhere, but couple it with the outstanding weather of southern California and you have all the makings of a highly enjoyable day.
When you think of Padres tickets, you might initially think of Qualcomm Stadium, which served as host to the Padres, along with a number of other pro sports teams located around the Mission Valley area. However, the team has now moved on to a newer, and much nicer stadium. Petco Park opened its doors in 2004, and has been hosting Padres games since then. In any change of sports venues, sometimes it can be a bit difficult getting used to a new name. However, even though "Petco Park" may sound somewhat less familiar for the time being, it is undeniable that its facilities are an improvement over those at Qualcomm, making San Diego Padres tickets an excellent value for their price.
The Padres have an interesting past, with a few curious footnotes. Before the beginning of the 1974 season, maybe people believed that the team would be relocated to Washington, D.C. Some of the team's jerseys were prematurely made with the presumed team name "Washington National League" embroidered on them. It even went so far that Topps, the baseball card manufacturer, printed many of the Padres' cards that year with "Washington National League" as the official team name. However, the move never panned out, and thus we still have the San Diego Padres.
In the 2005 the Padres earned the rather dubious distinction of having the worst record of any team to win its division. There was much speculation that the Padres would be the first team to win its division with a record below .500, but they managed to finish with a record of 82-80. Going forward, the Padres appear to have a bright future, with a number of promising prospects emerging from the minors. Padres tickets look like a great investment for anyone hoping to watch this team's progress unfold.
