Unable to secure ownership to remain in Atlanta, the Atlanta Thrashers were sold and moved to Winnipeg in the spring of 2011. Decision on the new team name was hotly debated but in the end the league and the team did the right thing by many fans, they are officially the Winnipeg Jets!
