Since 1935 the Orange Bowl has been a staple of the Miami area. The Orange Bowl is the annual match-up between two of the best college football teams in the nation and follows the BCS Bowl Selection process.

One of the most memorable Orange Bowls in recent history pitted Florida State against Penn State in the 2006 Orange Bowl. The game was touted as the battle of the winningest coaches in college football history as Joe Paterno's Penn State Nittany Lions defeated the Florida State Seminoles coached by Bobby Bowden.

The 2009 Orange Bowl, played in Dolphin Stadium, hosts more than 76,000 ticket bearing college football fans each year since the game was moved to the stadium in 1996.

Before being hosted by Dolphin Stadium, the Orange Bowl was played annually at the appropriately named Miami Orange Bowl, a 72,000+ capacity stadium that was built in 1937.

Annually the Orange Bowl is the culmination of the Orange Bowl Festival, a weeklong festival that includes activities for fans of all ages. The Orange Bowl Fan Fest is a concert held the day prior to the Orange Bowl and proves to be a fan favorite during the Orange Bowl Festival every year.
