Founded in 1948 by Bill France, Sr. as the first organized stock car racing league, NASCAR has grown to become one of America’s most popular spectator sports. Observing firsthand how racing rules often varied from one event to the next and how shady promoters all too often ran off with prize money, France Sr. felt a governing body was needed to manage and promote racing. He met with members of the racing community; not long after, NASCAR was born. Today NASCAR fans the world over can’t get enough of the sport’s daring drivers and exhilarating moments on the speedway. There’s nothing like experiencing NASCAR—one of the most thrilling sports on the planet—in person, and SelectATicket makes it easy!
Known as NASCAR’s minor league circuit, Xfinity is NASCAR’s second highest level competition. Top drivers have used Xfinity as an opportunity to launch their Sprint Cup (now Monster Energy NASCAR Cup) careers. Featuring 33 races between February and November, the Xfinity race series includes big events like the Talladega Superspeedway and the Winn Dixie 300. The races are shorter but just as adrenaline-pumping as their Monster Energy NASCAR Cup counterparts.
The only series to race modified production pickup trucks, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series first hit the circuit in 1995 and from February to November, with a total of 23 races. One of three national divisions, the Camping World Truck series ranks third behind Xfinity, with the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup reigning supreme at number one.
The “monster” of them all, the 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series is reserved for top drivers, who must earn enough points to qualify for the final 10 races (known as the NASCAR playoffs). Cup Series cars can reach speeds of more than 200 mph, but their simple aerodynamic design makes for poor handling, adding to the nail-biting exhilaration of this premier series of races.
