Seton Hall Basketball Today
Seton Hall basketball tickets have always been coveted by the legions of loyal fans, but rarely more so than now. In the past few years, the team has exceeded everyone’s expectations, generating national buzz that has heightened the sense of excitement. This kind of enthusiasm hasn’t been seen for a while, perhaps even since the famed 1989 season when the Pirates rode into the Tournament. As the club continues to hone its skill and up its game, things are only set to get better.
With an impressive roster featuring the dangerous inside-outside combo of Khadeen Carrington and Angel Delgado, the excitement is threatening to reach a fever pitch. Ever since the Seton Hall Pirates took the Big East Tournament in 2015-2016, fans have been rushing to get their hands on Pirates tickets in the hopes of seeing their team rock the NCAA Tournament after a decades-long dry spell.
The History of the Team
Fans take great pride in the Pirate’s long and storied past, which stretches all the way back to the early 20th century. The team got its start roughly 50 years after the private South Orange school was founded in the mid-19th century.
The first season kicked off in 1903-04 and, by the mid-1930s, the team had grabbed the national spotlight with its star player John “Honey” Russell. Then came the famous Pirate Mascot, which made its debut in 1931 to everyone’s delight.
Through the years, a long roster of talented athletes has worn the Pirates jersey—John Russell, Bob Davies, Richie Regan, Terry Dehere, Walter Dukes, and Nick Werkman are among some of the most notable early players. Then there’s the long list of brilliant coaches and the hordes of devoted fans who have followed Seton Hall Basketball religiously throughout their lives.
